How To Make a Delicious Plant - Based Burger for Vegetarians

With the rise in popularity of plant-based diets, many vegetarians are on the lookout for tasty alternatives to satisfy their burger cravings. Fortunately, there is a plethora of ingredients and technique available to create a delicious plant-based burger that rivals its meat-based counterpart. Here's a simple recipe to make a mouth watering plant-based burger that even non-vegetarians will enjoy.

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup cooked black beans
  • 1 cup cooked quinoa
  • 1cup finely chopped mushrooms
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 table spoons ground falx seed
  • 2 table spoon tomato paste
  • 1 table spoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (vegan option is available)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Burger buns
  • Toppings of your choice ( lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, etc.)
Instructions

  • Preheat your oven 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees celsius). Line a baking tray with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  •  Then add cooked quinoa to the bowl and mix well with the mashed black beans.
  • In a large mixing bowl, use a fork or potato masher to mash the cooked black beans until they forma rough paste.
  • In a skillet, saute the chopped mushrooms, onions, and garlic until they are soft and slightly caramelized. This step enhances the flavour and provides a more meaty texture to the burger .
  • Once the mushroom mixture has cooled, add it to the black bean and quinoa to bind the ingredients
  • In a small bowl, combine two ground flaxseeds with 4 table spoons of water to make a flax egg. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes gel like.
  • Add the flax egg, tomato paste, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper to the mixture. Mix everything well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Shape the mixture into burger patties of your desired size and place them onto the prepared baking tray. If the mixture is too sticky, you can wet your hands with water or use some extra quinoa to bind the ingredients.

  • Bake the patties in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are firm and slightly crisp on the outside.
  • While the patties are baking, prepare your burger buns and toppings. Toast the buns lightly if desired
  • Once the patties are cooked, assemble your burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun. Add your favourite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles or spicy mayonnaise.

Now sit back and enjoy a mouth watering plant-based burger that is both healthy and satisfying. The combination of black beans, quinoa, and mushrooms creates a hearty and texturally pleasing patty that will impress both vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Feel free to experiment with different seasoning and toppings to personalize your burger to your liking. Bon appétit
